In 2022, Hamilton County Schools implemented a new service to execute employment and wage verification requests of former and current employees. These requests are directed to The Work Number (formerly i2Verify), an income and employment verification company which provides immediate access to employment and wage data.
At times throughout your employment, there may be times when you are required to verify your wage or employment history. These instances include; securing a mortgage, buying a car, or providing information to a government agency for a social service entitlement. Hamilton County Schools partners with The Work Number to facilitate these transactions and securely transmits information to The Work Number to fulfill wage and employment verifications.
*Please note that this is different than an experience verification form which is often needed for licensure or employment purposes.  To have an experience verification form completed, please submit your request here.
Please follow the instructions below to obtain either a wage or employment verification:

Current and Former Employees

Visit https://employees.theworknumber.com

  1. From your Internet browser go to https://employees.theworknumber.com.
    Click the “Log In” link on the top right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Enter your email address (you do not have to use your work email address) and then select the option that designates you as a current or former employee.
  3. Create your unique password and provide the required account validation information.
    You will then be emailed an activation link to the email address you’ve provided. Retrieve this email activation link and follow the instructions to login. NOTE – check your SPAM / JUNK folder if you do not receive the activation link within a few minutes.

How does it work for lenders?

If an organization needs to verify your wage or employment history, direct them to Workforce Solutions at https://theworknumber.com/verification-sign-up.  Workforce Solutions will validate that they have your consent, as well as a permissible purpose to view your data.

How does it work for employees and new hires?

The Work Number is also available to all employees, free of charge. You can generate your own verification reports and letters on demand.

Why The Work Number?

What advantages does The Work Number offer?

The Work Number (formerly i2Verify) is a subsidiary of Equifax that automates the verification process by instantly and securely delivering employment information that requestors such as banks or government agencies rely on to make credit granting or benefit entitlement decisions (mortgages, loans, etc.).

It is important to note that HCS’ Information Technology Department has reviewed the data elements and business processes to ensure that The Work Number will safeguard sensitive data. The Work Number is PCI compliant and has the necessary measures in place to safely store and protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Clients of The Work Number include lenders, property managers, pre-employment screeners, and social service agencies. Utilizing The Work Number for employment and wage verification will benefit Hamilton County Schools employees and departments in multiple ways:

  • By eliminating the need for internal verifications, The Work Number reduces the turnaround time associated with employment or wage verification. A properly credentialed verifier, such as a bank or mortgage company, can now securely access employment verification data at any time at https://employees.theworknumber.com. This is especially beneficial during the periods when most HCS offices are closed, such as the weekend, or during extended holiday breaks. This also connects with the HCS goals of efficient and effective operations.
  • Through the employee portal, employees are allowed complete visibility into the verification process. Employees can block access to their data, generate their own reports, or choose to be notified when someone views their data.
  • The Work Number’s employment verification process is secure. Not only does The Work Number validate the identity of all users of its system prior to allowing access to sensitive employee data, but a complete audit trail of every verification is created and then is made available to employees.
