Better Together is our district-wide community engagement initiative that brings families, community members, and schools together to create welcoming spaces and strong connections before the first day of school.
Better Together has grown – instead of a one-day event, we now offer two full weeks of opportunities to get involved, from beautification projects to welcoming activities and our Back to School Bash event.
The goal remains the same: to equip students and families for a great start to the school year by creating high-quality learning environments and building strong relationships between schools and community.
Better Together is a chance for every neighbor, parent, partner, and friend to give students a great start to the school year!
Family volunteers are welcome, but children under 16 must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.
We welcome and encourage group volunteers! Please share this event with your colleagues, neighbors, church, or other groups. Volunteering is more fun with friends. Our Family & Community Engagement Department is happy to assist you in selecting a project that meets your group’s needs.
Unable to volunteer but still want to support the event? Sponsorship is available through the HCS Foundation. Some projects are also in need of donated materials and loaned tools.
